Inspire Me Thursday - Journaling
When I'm creating pages in my journal ... I often like to use words from magazines and catalogs that I've collected. I feel like sometimes they can convey my idea better than just plain words. Sometimes I'll create just a phrase or put together a bunch of words to create an idea or theme. That's what I've done with this entry.
Misty Wants To Know
I am Heather from Atlanta and I visit your site because I admire your artwork and feel inspired by it everyday.
A perfect day for me is a rainy day that would require a constant cup of Earl Grey at my side and time to sit down and work on my art ... because I'm feeling really inspired and have this great idea swirling around in my head.
I LOVE all types of music, but one song that really sticks in my head is Say Goodbye by Dave Matthews. The imagery if fantastic - a raging fire both in the fireplace and in the eyes of a friend that he wants to be a lover.
I would have to say that I'm party to mostly sunny ... Although I do enjoy my clouds.
I have a recurring dream that takes places in a huge stone mansion. And the people there live within the walls. Sometimes it's in black & white, sometimes in full color, but more often it's black & white with just a few things in color - like a red rug or really lush green grass.
One of the most fun and silliest things I've ever done is getting into a toothpaste and shaving cream fight with my best friend Rebecca while staying at a hotel in high school.
I don't think I take myself too seriously, but I have a tendency to take certain situations too seriously. I spin it around and around in my head like a cotton candy machine.
If I had to pick one person, I would have to say it would be wonderful, supportive boyfriend. We'd run off to a fantastic beach somewhere warm. And we would do nothing but eat great food and work on our tans until the money ran out! :-)

Days gone by
These photos were on The Associated Press. They tell of a life so far removed from our own. I find them absolutely fascinating. I wonder who these people were and what their life stories are.
This last photo is pretty graphic and very sad. I wonder if the families of these dead soldiers knew of their fate.

The Lady in the Water
I can't wait to see this film! I have loved everything he has done. I think Signs and The Village were the best though. I like how he keeps using the same people in different film ... for example, I'm excited to see what character Bryce Dallas Howard will be playing and how different it will be from The Village.

My First "Inspire Me Thursday" project
This week's challenge was "Faraway Places." I got to thinking about all the far off lands I'd love to be in - somewhere on the beach soaking up sun or hanging out in a cabin cooking dinner. But then I started thinking how LOVE is a far off place. One in which not everyone has found ... and for those of us who have, we can't imagine being anywhere else.

Inspire Me
I haven't been at my art table in four days ... despite the mess I'm starting to miss it! I just got some really great pieces in the mail from ARTchix Studio. I can't wait to use them. I think I'm also going to attempt to join in on the "Inspire Me Thursday" project! I'm excited to get started tonight - the ideas are already swirling around in my head.

Andy — The new addition
I decided to take the plunge this weekend and adopt a chiwawa from a local animal shelter. I've wanted a dog for a long time, but having only cats my adult life, I was a little reluctant to take on the responsibility that comes along with dog ownership. However, as fate would have it, I stopped into the shelter to drop off some donations and there was little Andy. He's tiny, cute and sweet - everything I've been looking for in a dog. I already have three cats so I kept thinking to myself: "This is crazy! How can I bring a dog home?" But after consulting my sister/roommate and BF ... they gave me their blessings and I picked him up yesterday. He loves to snuggle, minds well and isn't chasing the cats around the apartment so as far as I'm concerned - he's perfect!
Fun with discovering new art!
There's this guy who has started a really great project involving old cigarette machines and art. He has taken the old machines in which you put your money in, pull the knob and out pops a box of cigs. However, now instead out pops a small box of treasured art made by someone with a really great imagination. I'm lucky to have one and only one located right here in Atlanta at an area Whole Foods Market.
I couldn't wait to get my hands on the tokens to choose my pieces. I picked two ... one from A Little Something and Phlox. I was so excited I couldn't wait to get out to the car. I opened them right there at the exit door of the store. It's like getting a really great package in the mail. The kind where you're checking the box as soon as the mailman leaves the building!
If you've got one near you - I recommend you trying it out! You can go here to get more information on the project and a list of where they're located: http://www.artomat.org/home.html.

First Time Out
I've decided to jump into the ring and be apart of this amazing family of internet bloggers. There are so many great places I love to visit and often have art questions that I'd like to pose to the world, I'm curious to hear the responses!
I'm a graphic designer by day and by night I create mixed media collage art. I have an Etsy shop located at www.heatherly.etsy.com. I hope to get lots of comments and critques about what I create.
For as long as I can remember I have been painting, taking pictures and even making by Barbi's clothes when I wasn't happy with what was at the stores!
For me, creating art is like breathing! I'd die without it.
So here I go ... :-)
